TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL TO FORM A MEDICAL MARIJUANA COMMITTEE

The subject of medical marijuana will be back in front of the Twentynine Palms City Council tonight. Reporter David Haldane checks the council’s agenda…
The subject of medical marijuana will once again rear its controversial head in Twentynine Palms tonight when the city council considers forming an ad hoc committee to deal with it.
The last time pot came up was in January when the Council, despite objections from several onlookers and one of its own, affirmed a local ban. It’s unclear what, if any, moves would be taken by the proposed committee.
In other action, the Council will consider authorizing the city manager to execute a $70,000 agreement for services related to Project Phoenix. It also recently announced a joint workshop with the planning commission, set for tomorrow, to receive public input on proposed revisions to the city’s development code.
Tonight’s council meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road. Tomorrow’s workshop starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Services Building on Joe Davis Drive.
