Though the Twentynine Palms City Council meetings are closed to the public due to COVID-19, the mayor and councilmembers will still gather this evening at 6 p.m. while maintaining a safe distance from one another.

The council will discuss urgent cost-cutting actions due to COVID-19, such as the defunding and closing of certain projects: Trails Flood Control Plan, Animal Control Quarantine Building, Amboy and Hatch/Sullivan bike paths, El Sol curb and gutter, playground equipment, and an electronic sign.

With a potential overall costs savings of over $860K, the funds might still be applied to new roofing and other repairs to the Animal Control Building. The remainder of those funds may be divided equally to the Covid-19 Stabilization Fund and Project Phoenix.

The council will also officially accept the completed work on the Highway 62/Adobe Road traffic signal modification project and note the contract conclusion with PTM General Engineering Services.

Residents may livestream the full meeting from the city’s website, 29Palms.org, by clicking on “Meeting Agendas” and can also be viewed on-demand from this site. To submit questions or comments for the meeting, send an email to [email protected].
