While sitting six feet apart and wearing face masks, the Twentynine Palms City Council will gather this evening to discuss possible budget changes due to COVID-19, such as:

The city’s accumulative budget for fiscal years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 will be balanced thanks to $380,000 from the general fund COVID-19 stabilization fund.

The position of school resource officer may be cut unless the city and the Morongo Unified School District can come to a budget-share agreement. The city will discuss reducing operational hours at the city’s swimming pool.

The city will offer a deferral for transient occupancy tax in the first quarter of 2020, but the city will not fund two part-time staff positions at the Visitor Center for 12 months.

Tonight’s 6 p.m. meeting is still closed to the public but residents may livestream it by visiting the City’s website, 29palms.org, and clicking on the YouTube link. The meeting will also be available on demand at the site.
