The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight to discuss issues around bike path implementation, state government and finance. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
Tonight, the Twentynine Palms City Council will likely approve the purchase of asphalt concrete for the long-awaited Hatch/Sullivan and Amboy bike path projects. The cost should not exceed more than $450,000.
The council will then consider two resolutions introduced by the League of California Cities and determine a position that Councilmember Daniel Mintz, as the voting delegate, can represent at an upcoming meeting in Long Beach.
The first resolution asks the California Public Utilities Commission to expand its Rule 20A program for undergrounding overhead utilities to include projects in high fire hazard severity zones. The second resolution requests that both state and federal governments of the U.S. and Mexico address water quality issues from Mexico’s Tijuana River into the States.
Finally, the council will consider a resolution authorizing the city manager to set and recover certain debit and credit card service charges for payments over $5,000 and place limits on other similar payments.
The City Council meets tonight at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
