City Manager Cites Greater Surplus and Water Use Reductions
City Manager Luckino announced that the budgetary surplus for the just-finished fiscal year will be about $700,000, not the $400,000 previously projected. He also reported that the city decreased its water usage in June by 416 units, compared with the previous June, with a 25% decrease in water usage in parks.
Acquisition Price Settled for One Project Phoenix Site
City Manager Luckino reported that the Council had agreed, in closed session, to purchase the property at the corner of Yucca Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway for $228,000, from Project Phoenix funds. Discussion of other property at Cholla Avenue was deferred to a closed session to follow the open meeting.
Financing Plan for Adobe Villas Approved
The Council unanimously voted to approved financing of the Adobe Villas affordable housing reconstruction through bonds issued by the California Municipal Financing Authority. This will involve no cost to the city, with the bonds to be repaid by rents.
Preview of City Website Facelift
Larry Bowden gave a preview of the revamped city web site, with a cleaner interface and room for citizen input, as well as easy content update by non-technical city personnel. He hopes it will be ready by October 1.
