The Twentynine Palms City Council gathers this evening to discuss issues pertaining to Project Phoenix, among others. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…

This evening, the Twentynine Palms City Council conducts their usual meeting following an earlier closed session. The agenda includes a public hearing on the Council’s consideration of a resolution on levy assessments for the Tourism Business Improvement District.

The Council will then authorize the city manager to sign the right-of-way dedication at State Route 62 and Yucca Avenue, another preliminary move for Project Phoenix. The property formerly known as the Hi-Desert Tire Shop, has been cleared of all structures and will be the future plaza site for the project.

The council will then discuss how to wisely spend a $700,000 surplus from last year’s budget. Ideas on the recipient list include the purchase of a paver, a skate park upgrade and other previously approved projects.

The Council meets tonight at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Rd.
