The Twentynine Palms City Council will meet this evening to address advisory board appointments, an agreement with the Morongo Basin Transit Authority and strategic planning. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
During tonight’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting, staff will recommend Maria Quinteros of Holiday Inn Express to the Tourism Business Improvement District Advisory Board, and LeeAnn Clarke of Action 29 Palms and Denise Cullum to the Public Arts Advisory Committee Advisory Board.
Next, the council will consider authorizing a temporary license agreement with the Morongo Basin Transit Authority to use part of the city’s public works yard on Bullion Avenue for refueling, bus storage and employee use during normal business hours. There is no monetary compensation involved and the agreement is primarily to protect the city from liability.
Every other year, the council, the city staff and the community work together to create the strategic planning document that will become a steady guide for resource allocation. At this time, 13 foundation goals or issues have been identified: Downtown Specific Plan, Economic Development Plan, Utah Trail Plan, technology, health benefits, Project Phoenix, veterans resources, music/art events, wastewater, bike paths, homelessness, increasing family business and flood control.
The 6 p.m. meeting takes place at City Hall on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms.
