TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT, MAY REDUCE RESERVES

Tonight’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms City Council starts with a closed session at 5:15 p.m., at which council members will hold a performance evaluation of the city manager. During the open session starting at 6 p.m., the council will hold a public hearing for a permit for a new electronic sign for Theatre 29. Next, the council will discuss lowering its reserve policy for its unrestricted funds to 50 to 55 percent. If approved, the council will be asked to approve the excess reserve funds of $3.2 million for the Public Employees Retirement System; $2 million for Project Phoenix; and $350,000 for a safety improvement project at Adobe Road and Highway 62. The meeting will be held in City Hall on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms.
