The Twentynine Palms City Council will meet a bit earlier tonight to stage a workshop prior to the regularly scheduled meeting. The evening begins at 5:15 p.m. when the council will hear six presentations on the application of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds within the city.
The non-profit agencies requesting CDBG funds include the San Bernardino County Library, the 29 Palms Community Food Pantry, Family Service Association, Reach Out Morongo Basin, Mil-Tree Veteran Project and Morongo Basin Unity Home. The city also made a proposal for improvements to Luckie Park. Each presenter will have approximately three minutes to make their case before the council.
The council will also host a public hearing on the results of the census and its potential impact on the city’s district voting map. This will be the third of four required public hearings.
Other discussion items include a new shade structures at Luckie Park and City Hall; a land purchase for Pioneer Park, and a mid-year financial report.
