After their short break, the Twentynine Palms City Council reconvenes this evening to discuss important city matters. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details …
Tonight’s gathering of the Twentynine Palms City Council will feature discussions on the sidewalk improvement project, wastewater engineering for Project Phoenix and tourism issues.
The Tourism Business Improvement District sub-committee, consisting of Mayor Steve Bilderain and Mayor Pro Tem Joel Klink, will make a recommendation to the City Council for the appointment to the TBID Advisory Board. The council will then adopt a resolution to confirm the intention to levy an assessment for fiscal year 2019-20 and then likely approve the TBID annual report which includes a marketing plan and budget.
The council will reallocate $9,000 in backfill funds to Food for Life. The funds were originally intended for a homeless shelter in Joshua Tree’s County Fire Station, but that is no longer planned.
Finally, the council wants an elevated effort to coordinate with local, regional, state, and federal partners to ensure an accurate census count. For the first time, the census is online even though many households lack broadband or digital literacy.
