TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS, T.O.T. LATE FEES, DOG PARK, AND A STATUE ON A BUSY AGENDA

The Twentynine Palms City Council meeting tonight will begin with a presentation and a discussion of the city’s disaster preparedness policy. Among the items on the consent agenda is a recommendation that the city council establish a stipend for planning commissioner of $150 per meeting. The Twentynine Palms City Council will introduce an ordinance to allow expedited permitting for small residential rooftop solar systems. Next, the council will be asked to uphold the penalty for late payments of the transient occupancy tax. The creation of a wastewater ad hoc committee is next, followed by discussion about improvements at Knott’s Sky Park, to include a dog park. And finally, the council will be asked to approve the Public Arts Advisory Committee’s application for a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts; work with local tribes on obtaining matching funds for the second piece of art on National Park Drive, and approve the Pioneer Women sculpture for National Park Drive. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
