The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight with only two major items on its agenda. First it will consider renewing the city’s annual $3.3-million-dollar contract with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. The contract—just 3 percent above last year’s—provides for two patrol deputies at all times in addition to one traffic officer, a school resource officer, two volunteer citizen patrol units and various related support services.
Next the Council will consider approving the city’s proposed General Fund budget for fiscal 2016-17 to the tune of $8.5 million, an increase of 1.7 percent. The city has until June 30 to take the action.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on Adobe Road.
