TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS; RAISE EXPECTED FOR CITY MANAGER

The Twentynine Palms City Council meets in regular session tonight at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road. After community recognitions, the council will hold public hearings on assessments for lighting and landscaping still in place since 1972 and changing zoning in some areas of the downtown area. Then the council will consider amendments to the contract of City Manager Frank Luckino, including a 1.65 percent raise, 2.7 percent in a cost-of-living increase, and an increase in retirement funds among other adjustments. The council will formalize an agreement with the Twenty-nine Palms Band of Mission Indians to construct and maintain parts of Adobe and Baseline Roads. The City Council will adjourn after taking steps to authorize a project manager for the Project Phoenix housing and multi-purpose building.
