TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS; PROPERTY, TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND ROOFTOP SOLAR

The Twentynine Palms City Council meeting tonight deals with property acquisition, housing project funding, the Lear traffic light, and residential rooftop solar. Reporter Dan Stork has the details…
In a 5:30 p.m. closed session on September 8, the Twentynine Palms City Council will confer on two property negotiations downtown along 29 Palms Highway—one at the southeast corner of Yucca Avenue (which has been an ongoing deal) and another for two parcels at the northeast corner of Cholla Avenue. In the 6 p.m. open session, Larry Bowden will update the Council on the City’s web site. There will be a public hearing on membership in the California Municipal Finance Authority, and the issuance of tax-exempt bonds by that agency for the Adobe Villas Affordable Housing Rehabilitation Project. The Council will discuss the environmental exemption for the traffic light at Lear and Route 62, as well as prioritization of capital projects. Among the consent calendar items is the second reading of an ordinance that will expedite processing of residential rooftop solar projects.
