The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight to review ongoing plans for Project Phoenix, as well as budget matters.

Project Phoenix includes plans for a community center that tentatively includes a kitchen/meeting room. The council will discuss plans to convert that space to a full commercial kitchen in partnership with Copper Mountain College and the Morongo Unified School District.

The council will also discuss their rejection of submitted bids for the construction of the Project Phoenix Monument sign to be located on the southeast corner of Yucca Avenue and Highway 62.

Also on the agenda, the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) has requested an increase to its budget by nearly $78,000 to expand marketing capabilities in several budget categories.

Additionally, city staff will present a preliminary two-year special funds budget to garner initial feedback from the council.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, and is available for livestreaming and on-demand at the city’s website, 29palms.org.
