The Twentynine Palms City Council meets at 6 p.m. tonight in City Hall to tackle a number of agenda items, many relating to Project Phoenix. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
This evening, the Twentynine Palms City Council will address several pending action items, including the allocation of CDBG funding – that’s Community Development Block Grants – for fiscal year 2019-2020 to Project Phoenix and the construction of the multipurpose activity center.
A public hearing will be conducted to approve adoption of the Mitigated Negative Declaration for Project Phoenix and public approval of the site plan. Furthermore, after sifting through public submissions, the Project Phoenix city council subcommittee will recommend that Yucca Avenue be renamed Gateway Avenue in the Project Phoenix area.
Architecture for Project Phoenix is also on the docket: The City Council aims to authorize City Manager Frank Luckino to negotiate and execute a contract with Holt Architecture for furtherance of the multi-purpose facility in Project Phoenix not to exceed $441,000 plus a 10 percent contingency.
The Council will also likely authorize Luckino to negotiate and execute two energy improvement issues—a site lease and a financing lease with the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank.
The meeting will also include the San Bernardino Fire District’s 2018 Annual Report.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, Twentynine Palms.
