Tonight’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting will be the final of 2020, so in addition to Mayor Joel Klink’s State of the City Address, there will be the presentation of the Employee of the Year and the Mayor’s Recognition Award.

The council will officially certify the election results of November 3 and officially seat councilmembers-elect, Steven Bilderain of District 1 and Joel Klink of District 2.

The council will discuss and likely award a contract to Jacobsson Engineering Construction for $3.8 million to implement the third phase of Project Phoenix. This phase involves demolition, site grading, and street improvements, among other tasks all slated for completion by November 19, 2021.

The meeting will also include the council selecting the next mayor and mayor pro tem as it done annually.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m., but due concerns around COVID-19, is not open to public attendance. However, the proceedings can be viewed online through the City’s website, 29palms.org. Residents can also view the meeting on demand through the site.

The next meeting of the council will take place on January 5, 2021.
