A closed session devoted to legal issues, a tourism agency report, and staff responses to questions raised at a budget workshop are all scheduled for the Twentynine Palms City Council meeting. Dan Stork has details…
The Twentynine Palms City Council starts work early on May 28, with a 5 pm closed session dealing with a performance evaluation of the city attorney, and a discussion of two potential cases of litigation. One litigation threat is identified as coming from Dan O’Brien. (Ten years ago, O’Brien sued the City for violating his rights when it cleaned up a property of his, and billed him for its efforts. O’Brien lost that case. The City paid O’Brien’s legal costs of $30,000 in 2003, and O’Brien wrote a formal letter in which he expressed his regret for the animosity he admitted to causing.) The 6 pm open session starts with a presentation of the California Welcome Center quarterly report. Discussion items for the meeting include staff responses to questions raised by the Council and members of the public at the April 23 budget workshop. Those questions and responses appear in detail in a staff report available at a web address in this story at kcdzfm.com:
