Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state and across the nation, the public will not be allowed to physically attend this week’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting, but can view or participate in the meeting online. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
In light of Governor Gavin Newsom’s limited stay-at-home order and the rising cases of COVID-19, tonight’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting will be held online only with no public attendance allowed.
The virtual meeting will include a public hearing on the issue of a development code amendment for accessory dwelling units, an attached or a detached dwelling that is located on a lot with a home or at least plans for one.
Up for discussion is the funding agreement for the development of the wastewater project to the tune of $960,000. The city has partnered with the Marine base on a joint-use wastewater facility but the city must expand its own sewer collection system to protect the groundwater supply. This would be a loan with debt forgiveness so it would not impact city resources other than employee time.
The meeting will also include a discussion on proposed budget adjustments for fiscal year 2020/21, including matters relating to salaries and wage adjustments.
The meeting kicks off at 6 p.m. and can be accessed via livestream from the city’s website, 29palms.org. Comments can be submitted to the council prior to the meeting by sending an email to [email protected].
