TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS, HEARING ON NEW DEVELOPMENT CODE

Tonight’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms City Council will start with a closed session at 5:15, in which council members will discuss negotiations for 36 properties in the town, and with an evaluation of the city manager. The regular meeting starts at 6 with an introduction of new deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station. On the consent agenda, the council will receive a public safety report from the Sheriff’s Department, approve quotes for roofing and plumbing of the fire station, and approve a contract with a marketing specialist at $20/hour. The council will then hold a public hearing on its completely revamped development code. And finally, the council will be asked to approve the city budget for 2016-17, and hear a request for $40,000 from the Desert Regional Tourism Agency. The meeting will be held in City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms.
