Although the public was barred from attending the meeting in person due to concerns around COVID-19, the Twentynine Palms City Council gathered last night before an online audience to discuss city issues. Reporter Heather Clisby has details…
After a public hearing at last night’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting, the council voted to introduce an ordinance amending the city’s development code on accessory dwelling units (ADU) and proclaim the ordinance exempt from CEQA, the California Environmental Quality Act.
The council easily approved the funding agreement for the development of the city’s wastewater project in the amount of $960K. The State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) administers the State Revolving Fund (SRF) program and the funding is a loan with debt forgiveness so it bears no financial stress on the City other than staff time.
The council then approved the adjusted fiscal 2020/2021 budget that was reviewed in light of the economic impact of COVID-19. Changes include retroactive pay for city employees, unfreezing salary increases, reinstating lobbyists, and approving future salary and wage schedules.
The next city council meeting will be held on December 8.
