TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEET TONIGHT: GREEN WASTE, BUILDING CODES, FEES

The Twentynine Palms City Council will gather this evening to discuss more flexible building codes, new trash and recycling mandates and financial matters. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…

Tonight, the Twentynine Palms City Council will tackle several agenda items.

The council will consider an amendment to the development code for mobile home and special occupancy parks, specifically, to create more choices in materials for interior/exterior border walls. The new amendment would allow for wood, metal, vinyl or even irrigated landscape to be used for a six-foot screen.

With the goal of reducing greenhouse emissions, the council will receive a green waste and recycling update and consider several unfunded mandates regarding waste disposal and landfill diversion. The mandates include increased recycling, organic waste, and the reduction of edible food waste.

Finally, the council will consider approving a resolution to establish a new master fee schedule from the citywide user fee study, effective February 1, 2020. The increase in anticipated fee revenue is $20,000 annually.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Adobe Road.
