TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL LOOKS TO PUT DOWNTOWN UTILITIES UNDERGROUND

The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight for their first meeting of the decade to dig into important city business. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…

This evening, the Twentynine Palms City Council will gather for its first meeting of the decade. First up, a discussion about “under grounding” – the conversion of overhead power lines and other equipment to underground facilities in an area within the perimeters of Project Phoenix. If approved, the project would be covered by a $6 million state grant.

Next, the San Bernardino County Fire Code faces updates and amendments, which happens every three years. Twentynine Palms is within the fire district so the Council must approve these changes. Prior to that, a public hearing is under recommendation.

Finally, there will be a review of the City Council regional organizational assignments.
