TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL GIVES HEISER A WATCH, MINTZ A GAVEL

It was time to re-organize at last night’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting. Reporter David Haldane was there and filed this story…
Cora Heiser got a watch. And Dan Mintz took home a gavel. Both were honored at last night’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting; Heiser as an outgoing member and Mintz as the outgoing mayor.
Probably the best advice she got during her four years on the Council, Heiser said, was “Cora, don’t become known as the crazy lady of City Hall. Hopefully I followed that advice.”
For his part, Mintz pointed to progress on Project Phoenix as his proudest achievement as mayor and said he looked forward to continued service. In the Council’s annual re-organization meeting, John Cole took over as the city’s new mayor and McArthur Wright became Mayor Pro Tem. The Council also welcomed newly elected member Steve Bilderain and newly re-elected member Joel Klink.
But it may have been Heiser who got the last word. “I’m not closing the door on another run.”
