The Twentynine Palms City Council will gather this evening to discuss two major agenda items, both relating to finances and the economic effects of COVID-19. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
Tonight, the Twentynine Palms City Council convenes to face more money decisions sparked by the COVID-19 shutdown.
The City Council will consider approving the use of community development block grant funding to replace the general fund backfill, and allocate the $102,000 toward local food banks that are seeing a surge in demand.
The council will then re-visit preliminary budget issues for fiscal year 2020-2021. Recommendations include: the freezing of pay raises through to March 16, 2021, cancelling summer day camps, and paused funding for other post-employment benefits.
Tonight’s 6 p.m. meeting is closed to the public but residents may livestream it by visiting the city’s website, 29palms.org, and clicking on the YouTube link. The meeting will also be available on demand.
