Pouring rain kept the audience thin, but Tuesday night’s Twentynine Palms City Council meeting saw another necessary step forward in Project Phoenix. At issue was the sewer rate study and rate-setting process for the 12 customers who are within the borders of Project Phoenix.

Because basic costs were so high, the City will likely subsidize the project. After hearing details from City Manager Frank Luckino and one comment of concern from resident Jeff Johnson, the Council voted unanimously to approve the rate study. Next, letters will go out to affected customers, followed by a 45-day wait period, and then a public hearing on May 12 to allow for comments or protests.
