Last night’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms City Council began with a presentation of the Air Quality Award by the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. accepting the award was Colonel Wiley who was also there to show highlights of a slide presentation on how the base is has become more efficient and less wasteful. Community Service Director Randy Councell was there with a recap of the First Annual Car Show. He said it was a great turnout with 76 cars and that he learned a lot to make next year’s show an even greater success. Council members did approve a resolution for the Tourism Business Improvement District of a 1.5 percent assessment on hotel rooms and in the awarding a contract to engineering firm KOA Corporation to develop plans for the traffic signal modification for the traffic light on the corner of Adobe and Highway 62.
