TWENTYNINE PALMS CEMETERY VANDALIZED

Vandals destroyed the irrigation system at the Twentynine Palms cemetery sometime over the weekend. When cemetery workers arrived at work Monday morning, they noticed that the irrigation pipes for the cemetery’s rose garden had been ripped out of the ground and broken, and the sprinkler heads had also been broken off. In addition, the vandals ripped out part of the gazebo in the rose garden and threw the pieces around, including up into nearby trees. None of the gravesites were damaged by the vandalism. Damage to the sprinkler system and the gazebo is estimated by Sheriff’s investigators at about $1000 to replace and repair.  Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
