TWENTYNINE PALMS CEMETERY MANAGER PLEADS GUILTY TO GRAND THEFT

The former general manager of the Twentynine Palms Cemetery pleaded guilty earlier this month to stealing more than $17,000 from the cemetery district. Stacey Lee, 50, was fired January 5 for cause by the board of trustees; she spent nine days in jail before pleading guilty January 15 to grand theft valued at more than $950. She was sentenced to time served and five years probation. A restitution hearing is set for March 27 in Joshua Tree Court in front of Judge Rodney Cortez.
