Just days after the Twentynine Palms Cemetery board of trustees fired its general manager for alleged embezzlement, it hired a part-time interim manager Friday. A statement from the board says it hired Emily Helm of Twentynine Palms, who has “35 years of proven administrative, communications, planning abilities, and customer service skills. She currently works part-time at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree as an administrative assistant and has been in that position since September 2016.” The cemetery’s former general manager, Stacey Lee, 50, who was fired Sunday, January 5, is accused of embezzling $17,000 from the cemetery district. She is being held at the Central Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
