TWENTYNINE PALMS BURGLARY SUSPECT FOUND HIDING IN ATTIC

A Twentynine Palms man’s attempt to evade Sheriff’s deputies by hiding in an apartment attic wasn’t very successful. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies went to the 5800 block of Bagley Avenue about noon Tuesday to follow up on a burglary report. While there, a deputy spotted Perry Belden, 27, who is a known felon and had a warrant out for his arrest for drug charges. Belden ran into one of the apartments and crawled up into the attic and refused to come down. While in the attic, Belden allegedly walked in the attic over the apartments and broke through the ceiling and air vents in several places. Deputies eventually were able to detain Perry Belden and arrested him on suspicion of felony vandalism and on his warrant and assault with a deadly weapon. Perry Belden was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $75,000.
