TWENTYNINE PALMS BOYS’ SOCCER CHALKS UP LOSS, WIN AT SOCCER TOURNAMENT

The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ soccer team traveled to Linfield Christian to take on the California Military Institute and Santa Rosa Academy in their third and fourth games of the Linfield Soccer Tournament Saturday, December 1. The Wildcats recorded their first loss by a score of
0-1 and 5th win of the season with a score of 4-1 to improve to 5 wins and 1 loss.

The Wildcats earned second place in the tourney and junior captain Melvin Ballinas and senior Miguel Sosa earned all-tourney team honors. Coach Nathan Niles said the entire team played great team defense in both games but allowed their first two goals of the season. Junior Juan Duran recorded seven saves to bolster the defense. Senior Miguel Sosa led the scoring followed by goals from Irvin Montano and Donald Albers on assists from Adan Herrera, Manuel Rios, Tucker Thornburg and Donald Albers.
