In local sports, the Twentynine Palms boy’s basketball team hosted the Palm Desert Aztecs on Thursday night in a non-league contest. Varsity beat the Aztecs 76-58 for the team’s second consecutive win.
Coach Michael Usher said Jacob Hueso scored 22 points with four steals. Saiz Aguilar had 13 points and five rebounds. Troy Tuivaiti scored 12 points with six rebounds. The Wildcats shot 84 percent as a team from the free throw line, and played great team defense to secure the win.
Junior varsity won 61-57, led by PJ Horn with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Johnny Aguirre had 14 points and five steals.
