The defending Desert Valley League champion Twentynine Palms boys’ basketball team opened the season with a 75-54 win at Indio High School Wednesday in a rare non-league matchup against the Rajahs.
Coach Michael Usher said the Wildcats opened the game with a 24-1 first quarter lead, and stretched it out to a 42-11 halftime score on the backs of great pressure defense all around.
The Wildcats were paced by senior Jacob Hueso with 17 points and six steals; senior Izzy Goldsmith with 14 points 11 rebounds; and senior Josh Herne with 12 points and four assists.
