TWENTYNINE PALMS BASKETBALL ALL-STARS BRING HOME CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Twentynine Palms Recreation all-star basketball teams travelled up the hill to Big Bear last weekend. With a final record of 5 and 1 the fifth and sixth grade girls were able to avenge an earlier defeat to Needles. Carveona Garner was awarded the MVP for the division while Taylor Scamman and Zeriuah Maple were named to the All Tournament team.

The seventh grade boys were able to fight their way back into the championship game after losing an early game to Needles. Facing Beaumont in the championship game, Twentynine Palms finished with a 3-point victory. Antonio Carter was named the MVP. Tyrell Bell and Cezar Hueso were named to the All Tournament team.

The seventh and eighth grade girls were added another undefeated tournament as they went 4 and 0, beating Yucca Valley in the championship game. Lindsey Scamman was named MVP for the girl’s team; Jayden Thompson and Vaitupu Melei were selected to the All Tournament team.

The third and fourth grade girls and eighth grade boys both came in 2nd place, losing in their championship games. Kate Bobadilla and Cory Watt were named to the All Tournament team for their division, as were D’Shaun Barrett and Abraham Bell for the eighth grade boys.

The third and fourth grade boys took third place out of eight teams in their division, beating teams from Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear.

The fifth and sixth grade boys lost the first two games of the tournament against Needles and Beaumont, but were able to win their last game against Apple Valley.
