TWENTYNINE PALMS ANIMAL SHELTER IS STILL ADOPTING OUT ANIMALS; YUCCA VALLEY IS NOT

Because the Twentynine Palms animal shelter, Palms N Paws, is closed to the public, it has moved its pet adoptions online to Petfinder. Morongo Basin residents who are looking for a new pet can find information about dogs and cats that are available for adoption. If you find an animal you’d like to adopt, call Palms N Paws at 760-367-0157 to set up an appointment to see the animal in person. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains the policies at the Yucca Valley animal shelter…

The Yucca Valley animal shelter is also closed to the public, but, unlike Twentynine Palms, it is not adopting pets at this time. At the time the stay-at-home order was put in place, the shelter’s animal population was relatively low, and placements were made through other shelters and rescue partners. Moreover, the shelter is not accepting owner surrenders of pets at this time. For residents who have lost a pet, they can call the animal shelter at 760-365-3111 to see if the shelter has the pet, and to make arrangements to pick it up. Licenses may be renewed by mail. For questions about licensing, call 760-365-1807.

In addition, animal control is not responding to calls to trap nuisance animals, such as cats. For animal control emergencies, call 760-365-1807.
