Twentynine Palms youth basketball all-star teams ventured up the mountain this past weekend to participate in the Big Bear Basketball Tournament. The fifth- and sixth-grade girls team, led by MVP Kate Bobadilla and all-tournament selections Audrey Middleton and Gianna Bilderain, dominated the competition en route to the championship. The seventh-grade boys also brought home championship honors. Alex Burns was named the MVP while Marc Hightower and Jacob Hueso were named to the all-tournament team.
The fifth- and sixth-grade boys lost their first game of the tournament, but were able to get their way back in the awards and bring home third place. The eighth grade boys placed second in their division, losing to Redondo Beach in the championship game. Robert Russ, Gabe Villescas and Malik Williams were named to the all-tournament teams for their divisions.
