A pick-up truck hauling a load of roofing material caught fire on the Yucca Grade Tuesday afternoon. According to County Fire Captain Danny Stamps, the 2000 Ford F-250 was near the top of the grade at Pinon Drive when the driver noticed flames coming out of the engine compartment and pulled over about 2 p.m. The driver attempted to put out the flames using a personal fire extinguisher, but the blaze was too large. Yucca Valley firefighters arrived and had the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes. The fire was contained to the passenger compartment and there were no injuries.
