The Yucca Valley High School Trojans made a statement in their season opener, defeating Arrowhead Christian 21-19 in Redlands. The Trojans showcased a balanced offensive attack and a stout defense en route to the victory.
Quarterback Michael Ramos led the charge for the Trojans, completing 14 of 18 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown. Ramos’s dual-threat ability kept the Arrowhead Christian defense on their heels throughout the game.
Wide receiver Roderick Rogers was a key target for Ramos, hauling in two touchdown passes and totaling 97 receiving yards. Rogers’s ability to create separation and make plays after the catch proved to be a valuable asset for the Trojans’ offense.
Defensively, the Trojans were led by Brody Herrera and David Maya, who recorded 10 and 9 tackles, respectively. Ethan Rodriguez and Michael Ramos both intercepted passes, while Herrera and Maya each recovered fumbles. The Trojans’ defensive effort was crucial in the second half limiting Arrowhead Christian’s scoring opportunities.
With the victory, the Trojans will look to build on their momentum and work hard to improve in the coming weeks. They will host Rancho Christian on August 30th at 7 PM in their home opener.
