TROJAN SOCCER HOLDS ON TO ELKS CLUB TROPHY

The Yucca Valley High School varsity boys’ soccer team defeated the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats last night to keep the Elks Club Trophy.

Winning 2 to 0, the first goal for the Trojans was scored by Senior Forward Sebastian Hill on a pass from Midfielder Logan Barth. The second goal of the evening was scored by Senior Defender Jake Fenenoz. The Trojans give credit to the Wildcats for always playing hard, and never giving up, everyone always has a positive attitude, the Wildcats are well-coached and it shows in their play. The player of the Match was Senior Midfielder Josh Pierce, Coach Rodriguez said Josh won his battles and helped to distribute the ball very well, showed his leadership, and helped his teammates do better.

The win marks the third consecutive year that the Trojans have held the Elks Club Trophy. The Trojans look forward to hosting Indio tomorrow (February 2) night for their final game of the season, Junior varsity kicks off at 3 p.m., with varsity at 5 p.m.

For the Lady Trojans varsity soccer team, the Wildcat match-up ended 2-0, keeping the Elks Cup at home. Starting out with a 1-0 lead in the first half, thanks to a goal scored by Vivian Castaneda who received the assist from senior Talitha Foster. The passing in the midfield was commendable as Sarah Krenelka and Eden Ricketts completed many combination plays opening up the field and feeding the ball to the Trojan offensive line. The second goal of the night was scored in the second half of the game by Nevaeh Carlos with an assist from Devin Spitz. Devin did a great job of controlling the ball and sending it up to her teammates throughout the entirety of the game.
