In a stunning rematch against Twentynine Palms High School, the Yucca Valley boys’ junior varsity soccer team walked away from the Wildcat Stadium with another 0-0 tie against its cross-town rival Tuesday night.
“We saw our defense play the best they have all season,” said coach Adan Mendoza. “They really impressed us tonight.”
Mendoza also commended the offense, “We attacked all night, but ultimately couldn’t land a goal.”
The JV team stayed to cheer on the varsity teammates as Yucca Valley High School took the Elks Cup home for the first time in five years, and were excited to celebrate the victory with them after the game.
Coach Mendoza said, “JV and varsity practiced as a team. Players from both sides bonded and we’re very proud of the culture we’ve created. Our JV players are excited for the day they get to hold the cup in victory as well.”
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan boys’ soccer teams have their final game this Thursday, February 6, against the Indio Rajahs at Brehm field. JV starts at 3 p.m. and varsity at 5 p.m.
