TROJAN GOLF TEAM DEFEATS BEAUMONT

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan golf team traveled to Beaumont for its second match of the season. The Trojans won, 228 to 286.

Low score of the match was held by Gauge Kime with a 40. Luke Yakimow was again a close second with 42.

Yucca Valley is now 2-0 on the season, with its next match on Tuesday, March 10, versus Coachella High School.

Head coach Jason Harvey said, “Tukwet Golf Course is a tough course. Out-of-bounds surrounds every fairway, and is often just steps out of the edge of the fairway. The players battled through it but we definitely had our share of penalty strokes today. To still come out of the match in the 220’s is great.”

He added, “We strategically lined up two tough courses to prepare for league play and we’re happy to come out on top of both matches. Next week’s weather looks to be another hurdle for the start of our league matches but we make sure to get a lot of practice in inclement weather so we feel we are prepared for next week.”
