Yucca Valley High School varsity boys’ soccer had a home scrimmage game versus Big Bear High School, and won 5 to 3.

Coach Jorge Rodriguez said “We had lots of scoring. The player of the match is sophomore defender Griffin Hilderbrand.

Hilderbrand led all scorers with two goals in the first half. Angel Ramirez scored one goal and Carlos Santos scored off a penalty kick in the second half. Sophomore Logan Barth also scored a goal.

Rodriguez said, ‘Our goal keepers put in some work. Landon Gradilla and senior Connor Slack both had seven saves. It was a good first game to our pre-season and we look forward to our next contest next week versus Xavier Prep in Palm Desert. The coaching staff would like to thank all the players for their efforts today also. We had a great turnout from our supporters.”
