TROJAN BOYS’ SOCCER SPLITS IN MATCH AGAINST BANNING

The Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer faced Banning High School yesterday. Varsity tied 2-2, junior varsity lost 1-0.

Coach Jorge Rodriguez said, “We played a team that beat us a few weeks ago. We played much better, we had control of the game and had possession of the ball.”

The first goal was scored by sophomore mid-fielder Logan Barth, and the Trojan’s second goal was scored by senior forward Alan Campos.

Rodriguez said, “Player of the match goes to senior mid-fielder Angel Ramirez for his leadership and relentless effort tonight.

Junior varsity lost 1-0. The Trojans dominated time of possession versus Banning High School and had eight shots on goal, but the players could not get one to go in the net. Rodriguez said, “Our defense and mid-fielders played well and our offense was much more improved today. Player of the game is freshman Ethan Snead for his effort, energy and overall improvement.”

The next match is Friday at Coachella Valley High School. Junior varsity plays at 3:15 and varsity is at 5 p.m.
