TROJAN BOYS’ SOCCER LOSES

In Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer against Coachella Valley High School, varsity lost 7-0; JV lost 5-0.

Assistant Coach Adan Mendoza said, “Varsity was short handed, but nonetheless all of our student-athletes played hard, with a Trojan mentality. Even though we were down, our guys continued to work hard and never gave up. We had several goal scoring chances, but we could not score tonight. Player of the match goes to senior midfielder Truman Powell. Truman is a leader among his peers, always works hard, and tonight he played his best game of the season.”

The junior varsity team was also short handed tonight with only 10 players. Mendoza said, “Our JV team played with a lot of effort. Player of the game is Brian “Bear” Hayes. Bear always plays with great effort, positive attitude and leadership.”

He said the teams look forward to a rematch at Twentynine Palms High School next Tuesday, when our Trojan Boys soccer will be playing for the very coveted Gold Cup. JV plays at 3:15 and varsity at 5 p.m.
