The Yucca Valley High School Trojan boys’ soccer team walked away with a 6-1 win at home Tuesday night against West Shore High’s Wildcats. The junior varsity team tied 1-1.
Senior Alan Campos was named Player of the Match, scoring a half-time hat trick and an impressive five goals throughout the entire game.
Varsity Coach Jorge Rodriguez said, “The coaching staff is very pleased with the team effort tonight, especially with the defending mids Tyler Cooper and Seth Nazario.”
Meanwhile, the junior varsity team tied 1-1, naming first-time player and midfielder Sam Tate Player of the Match for scoring the team’s goal.
JV Coach Adan Mendoza said, “We knew he would be a great asset to the team. He’s a skilled equestrian, but we didn’t expect him to perform at such a high level so early, having never played soccer before. I’m proud of the work he and the team put in at practice; everything pays off.”
The Trojans will get another chance to go up against the West Shore Wildcats this Saturday, at the team’s first tournament of the school year. The first game begins at 10 a.m. at West Shore High School in Salton City.
