The Yucca Valley High School Trojans boys’ basketball teams traveled to Desert Mirage High School. All three teams won.
Varsity won 64-39.
Outstanding players for the game were Bryce Mitchell, who scored 19 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks; Braden Brimhall, with 12 points and six rebounds; and Jr. Rodriguez who made nine points.
Coach Matt Jennings said ‘ “As we head to the last game of the season it was great to have another league win. But all attention will now be on Twentynine Palms.”
The junior varsity team also won, 57-35. Stand-outs were Tayten Shartel, with 17 points and seven steals; Troy Worrell, who had 10 points and seven steals; and Paul Quin who made nine points and six rebounds.
Coach Jon Price said, “The team looked to continue their unbeaten streak in the league and they did. We will be definitely be putting all of our attention to come out with another victory over Twentynine Palms on Thursday.”
The frosh-soph team won 57-40. High scorers were Tua Kakalia, who made 17 points and eight rebounds; David Jimenez who made 17 points and three steals; and Demar Smith and Cooper Hopton who had six points each.
Coach Ernest Gamboa said, “This is their last game of the season. They finished the league 12-0 and 12-1 overall. It was a pleasure to see these kids grow and play together as a team. They will definitely add a lot to our program next season.”
