TROJAN BOYS’ BASKETBALL ENDS SEASON WITH A WIN

Yucca Valley High School boys basketball finished their season at Coachella Valley with at 58-37 victory. This brings their final season record to 3 wins, 4 losses.

Coach Matt Jennings said, “With a young team and numbers dwindling they really dug deep and finished the season strong.”

  • Senior Luke Yakimow: 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists
  • Freshman Jadon Pierce: 14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 steals 
  • Freshman Daniel Mills: 11 points, 5/5 free throws 
  • Junior Aidan Gamboa: 6 points, 6 rebounds
  • Junior Garrett Slayden: 2 points, 3 steals
  • Junior Cooper Hopton: 3 assists, 2 steals 
  • Sophomore Deandre Roberts: 2 rebounds, 2 steals

Jennings said, “We were fortunate to get to play this short season and we want to thank the parents, admin and all involved in allowing us to play. I am thankful for each player and their willingness to put in a lot of work in such a short amount of time. Thank you also to my assistant coaches: Jon Price, Ernesto Gamboa and Joseph Jennings. Your work did not go unnoticed.”
