In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball team hosted the Desert Hot Springs Eagles Friday night in Trojan gym. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams came out on top and secured a league win. The varsity team won 58-43; the JV team won 66-24.
Coach Matt Jennings said the varsity team began the game with the lead and never gave it up.
Braden Brimhall scored 12 points with six rebounds; Elijah Roymade 11 points and had three steals. Anthony Olvera scored 10 points.
For the JV, Cooper Hopton had 19 points and eight steals. Aida Gamboa and Kaden Bailey made 10 points each, and Tua Kakalia scored eight points and had seven rebounds.
