In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School Varsity basketball teams came away with a victory over Coachella Valley 59-46. Junior varsity boys won easily against Coachella Valley 57-25.
Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach Matt Jennings said the Arabs put up a good fight but the Trojan defense stepped it up to pull out the win.
Top varsity scorers were Braden Brimhall, 20 points (five 3-pointers) and four rebounds; Noah Roy, 11 points and seven rebounds; Kris Brady, four points and six rebounds.
For junior varsity, high scorers were Demar Smith, 16 points and six rebounds; Kaden Bailey, 12 points, 10 steals, and five assists; Marcos Jimenez, 11 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals; and Aidan Gamboa, 10 points, 11 rebounds.
The teams will host Twentynine Palms on Tuesday, February 4 in Trojan gym.
